What a fantastic Sports Day we had on Wednesday! It was truly wonderful to see all the children participate with such energy and enthusiasm. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, and it was clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I was especially impressed by the team spirit shown by all the children. They cheered each other on, celebrated successes big and small, and demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day. A huge congratulations to the Green Team, who were the overall winners of this year's Sports Day!  Thanks to everyone for their support in making the day such a memorable and successful event for our children. We're already looking forward to next year!

Our Year 5 pupils had a fantastic Transition Day at Netherhall School today, thoroughly enjoying a taste of secondary school life. The day started with a welcome in the Ellen Theatre, followed by four diverse lessons, including an energetic PE session. The children were engaged and enthusiastic! The hope is that the experience has left them excited and prepared for their future move to secondary school.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their incredible support of today’s Green Day initiative. Thanks to everyone's generosity, we are able to make a significant contribution to our local food bank, and we couldn't have done it without you. It's lovely to see our school community come together to support such a vital cause, especially during these challenging times for many families. Green Day allows the children to learn first-hand the importance of helping those in need and seeing how their efforts, combined with yours, will directly help others.

Next week, our Year 6 children will be having their Transition Days at their chosen secondary schools. These days are a great opportunity for the children to become familiar with their new environment, meet key staff members, and begin to build connections with their future classmates. These experiences are invaluable in reducing any anxieties they might have about moving to secondary school and help them feel more prepared and enthusiastic for the journey ahead. To maximise the benefits of these days, it is absolutely crucial that the children attend on time for all scheduled transition activities. Punctuality ensures they don't miss important introductions, instructions, or opportunities to bond with their peers and teachers.

On Tuesday, Class 2 will be visiting St Matthew's School in Westnewton to participate in a special wind instrument workshop and enjoy a performance by a professional wind quintet. The children will get hands-on experience with various wind instruments like flutes and clarinets, learning how they produce sound. They'll even have the chance to try making their own notes and meet professional musicians, gaining inspiring insight into musical performance.

I am excited to announce the name of the big green dinosaur, and it’s new owner: The dinosaur’s name is RUDY, and he now belongs to Mia H! I am sure Rudy will be very happy in his new home!
